Guest Blogging is Dead, Long Live Guest Blogging

| Blogging Tips | March 9, 2015

If you listen to some marketers, you will hear people bemoaning the fact that guest blogging is dead. It’s only natural for me to disagree, but I would be remiss if I did not say that there is a valid argument behind their reasoning. Guest blogging has taken a few dings because people have been link stuffing, keyword stuffing and more to garner favorable SEO rankings.

Sadly, those above things have gotten guest blogging in some trouble. So, it has caused people to declare guest blogging dead, but I’m here to tell you that it is alive and well. So, guest blogging is dead, long live guest blogging. Here is why, you should look at guest blogging with fresh eyes.

Don’t Try to Outthink the Search Engines. Good content never falls out of favor, especially if you hit the sweet spot of evergreen content. Never sacrifice good content in favor of keyword stuffing, link baiting, link stuffing and anything else which causes you to write to create content without value. Engaging, high-value content with no more than two links included. Remember, the name of the game is quality, not quantity.

Protect Your Reputation.

There are all types of sites around the Internet and we believe in creating clips for a portfolio. However, you should only submit your guest blogs to sites which aim for high-quality blog posts. Backlinks are wonderful, but more established sites with great reputations, both online and off, will enhance your SEO and bolster your credibility.

Don’t be Boring.

It’s easy to be lulled into a sense of calm when you’re writing blog posts. You write about what you know, churn out more posts and rework some topics when necessary. This is crucial for gaining new readers and keeping them coming back to your blog for more. Guest blogging allows you to reach a new audience and today’s readers are smart and know when you’re dialing things in. Be happy, be interesting and be informative.

Guest blogging as we know it is dead.

Far too many people have tried to outsmart the search engines and too many less-than ideal websites have started springing up to create the illusion of reputable guest blogging platforms. However, when it is done the correct way, guest blogging has a large influence in the content marketing realm and boosting SEO. Stick to writing exceptional content and you will find out that guest blogging is working for you. Write for human, but keep the search engines in mind.

There’s life in the old dog yet.
